Returns & Refunds

The short version

Returns are accepted within 3 days of delivery, and only if the book arrived damaged in transit or is materially not as described. Outside of those two cases, all sales are final.

What qualifies for a return

• Damaged in transit: The packaging or book arrived in worse condition than the listing photos show. Include clear photos of the packaging and the damage in your email.
• Not as described: A material flaw that wasn't disclosed in the listing photos or description (for example, a missing page, a previous owner inscription we didn't note, or an edition discrepancy).

What doesn't qualify

• Changed your mind after purchase or after the book arrived.
• Flaws that were documented in the listing photos or description (foxing, bumped corners, ex-library marks, dust jacket wear, etc.).
• Differences in personal condition-grading preference. Our photos are the source of truth — please review them carefully before buying.
• Items returned after the 3-day window.
• Items returned without their original packaging, bookplates, or protective sleeves.

How to request a return

Within 3 days of the USPS-confirmed delivery date, email contact@elderntomes.com with:

• Your order number.
• A short description of the issue.
• Photos of the book, packaging, and any damage or flaw you're reporting.

We'll respond within one business day. If the claim qualifies, we'll send a prepaid return label and full refund instructions.

Return shipping

• We pay return shipping for damaged or misdescribed items (a prepaid USPS label will be emailed to you).
• Books must be returned in their original packaging and protective sleeves.
• Please return the book within 7 days of receiving the prepaid label.

Refunds

Once the returned book arrives and we've confirmed its condition, we issue a full refund (item price + original shipping) to the original payment method within 5 business days. Your bank may take another 2–5 business days to post the credit.

International buyers

elderntomes.com ships within the United States only. For international orders, shop our eBay store — eBay International Shipping handles customs, VAT, and their own return terms.
